Pinewood Derby

We're new to the whole Pinewood Derby. When they gave us our little box for Josh to get started, little did we know it was going to cost $60 + in supplies (not including some tools Tom needed to pick up).
But the excitement in Josh's eyes made it all worthwhile.

Josh named his car "The Blue Flame". It's on the far left.

The Spring Choir Concert isn't your typical concert. Besides singing, you will see boys dancing in tutus, the use of noisemakers and a gorilla that grabs all of the boys in the choir. Yes, I did say gorilla.

That's the gorilla on the top row. One day a 6th grade boy showed up at school in a gorilla costume and of course they worked him into the choir! It was hilarious. Never have I seen little kids so attentive in a concert before. Julie did a great job and had a blast.

Buffalo Point 5K/1 Mile Race

I'm so proud of my kids! Everyone decided to join in the school's race this year. We all opted to do the 1 mile race, because I didn't think Hailey was up to the 5K. Boy was I wrong! Right from the start she took off running and left the rest of us behind. I guess it isn't cool to run with Mom. She finished the race well ahead of everyone else.

Tom's New Mustache

Tom and I went to a surprise birthday party for one of the ladies I work with. It was a fiesta theme, so they gave flowers for the women to put in their hair. They gave the men a fake mustache. The funny thing was, of all of the men there, Tom was the only one who's mustache actually looked real.

Paddle Boat

Whenever we get heavy rain the streets in our neighborhood start to flood. Then the soccer field of our neighborhood park will flood too. We were coming home from Meg's orchestra concert Wednesday night when we saw some of our friends on a paddle boat in the park. Of course we had to stop. Josh had a blast and hopes that the park floods every time it rains now. He and Tom also priced out paddle boats, just in case we might need our own.

Happy Birthday Josh!

Josh has been really excited to turn nine. In fact, he's been telling me for three weeks to not forget to buy him a birthday present. Little did he know, that this time at least, I had bought his gift months ago. He should have reminded me to buy candles though. That one I completely dropped the ball on!

I'm not sure who was more excited with Josh's gift -- Josh or Hailey. On the way up to Josh's room, Hailey kept saying, "We got it Josh!" Later she told me thank you for buying "us" the Harry Potter Castle. It was just what "we" wanted. I'm not sure when she'll realize the Legos were for Josh, not both of them. For now at least Josh has a Lego buddy.

Hailey's Song

Here's a clip of Hailey's part in the program. Each class had 2 songs where the kids got to dance along with the singing. The boys in Hailey's class danced to "Five Wiggly Worms," which was my favorite song! The girls in Hailey's class danced to the "Flower Song."
