Alpine Loop

To finish off our week of daycations we drove up the Alpine Loop. It was the kids first time being up there. They were amazed at the view.
Hailey didn't like the dog and horses we met at one of the trail heads. She decided this was the safest place to be.
We also drove over to Cascade Springs. It's so beautiful there!

Smores at Deb's

Deb and Jerry have a fun fire pit in their backyard that is perfect for roasting smores to celebrate Pioneer Day. Our kids always love to get together with Deb and Jerry's three girls.

Miniature Golf

We took the kids to play miniature golf at the local fun center. For our family miniature golf is really a combination of several games: golf, bowling, croquet, and billiards. This course was made more difficult because it was glow-in-the-dark (not that my pictures show that!)
Julie, Megan and Josh in Neptune's Palace.
Tom definitely scored best, but we all had fun laughing at the goofy shots along the way.

The Moon

We made a trip to the moon today! Or at least to the moon walk at the Clark Planetarium. This is one of Josh's favorite places to visit. He's very interested in space and could even name the planets of the solar system in order when he was five.

Megan and Julie enjoyed the view on Mars.
We also made a trip to the Tracy Aviary. While I think the kids like Hogle Zoo better, Josh got a chance to visit with a volunteer about birds and get some of his questions answered.

Digital Class

Just another project from my digital photography class. It amazes me how easy Photoshop Elements is if you have great resources showing you all the tricks! Now I just need to create more photo opportunities!!

Ogden Union Station

We're enjoying another week of daycations. Today we headed to the Ogden Union Station to see the three museums there. The kids' favorite part was the model train exhibit in the Railroad Museum. They had several different trains winding in and out of several different rooms. The kids kept chasing the trains to see where they were going to end up. After seeing that, Tom realized he and Josh really need to work on improving they're own model trains.
Tom really enjoyed the Browning Firearms Museum and the Classic Car Museum.

Primary Activity

For those of you that didn't know, I was called last Sunday to be the secretary in the Primary Presidency. We have an enormous primary, 215 kids to be exact (not including the nursery)! So I got to jump right in help with the primary activity yesterday. Luckily the other presidency helped out with everything. Can you recognize Josh among his friends?
For some kids, I was the "target" at this activity.

Here's Hailey with her best friend Kyleigh.

Our local fire department is always willing to spray the kids with the water cannon. It was perfect, since our temp was 99 degrees!

More projects

Working on this class, I've realized I need to take a lot more photos! It's fun to learn all of these specialized techniques, but you really have to have a good photo arsenal to work with. The photo of the geese were taken in February as we overlooked the frozen Mississippi River. Words can't really describe the frigid temperatures at the time.

This is of Hailey from last year. It's always been a favorite photo and was fun to antique.

Hollyhocks

Here's another project from my digital scrapbooking class. Believe it or not, these hollyhocks in the back yard have grown to be 12 feet tall! Every day as I stand at my kitchen window I can see these beauties. They make me smile.

Digital scrapbooking

So I'm taking a digital scrapbooking class so I can learn how to use Photoshop Elements. Here's my first completed project. While I'm not happy with the word art phrase, it's been a fun class and I'm learning a lot. I definitely need to add to my digital scrapbooking files!

Megan

This cute girl got contact lenses today! Meg's been dying to have contacts since the fourth grade, but the mean parents that we are, we felt she needed to be a little older first. Now she's getting ready to go to junior high next year, so it was time. It's great to see those beautiful eyes again!
