Back To School

School finally started again, and all four kids (plus me) get to go! It's hard to say who was the most excited.

Meg's in 8th grade this year.
Julie's in 6th grade.
Hailey's starting Kindergarten. Her backpack is almost as big as she is!

Josh is in 3rd grade.

Teaching Again!

I wasn't planning on teaching full time this year, but then the principal at my kids' elementary school called and invited me to apply for a part time job. Since the hours would have matched Hailey's kindergarten schedule, I decided to apply. At my interview the principal asked one question, "Would you consider teaching full time?"

He had received an email the night before letting him know he could hire an additional teacher for the lower grades. With an opportunity like that, I really couldn't pass it up. I got the official offer the next night, 10 days before school started, but only 6 days until Back to School Night.
Luckily, I have WONDERFUL neighbors! With the help of my army of volunteers I was able to get my classroom ready, copies made and lesson plans for the first week of school prepared. I even had one sweet neighbor stay and help me until 11:30 pm! So our new adventure has begun. Its going to be a whirlwind of a year.

Discovery Gateway

We had a free family pass to Discovery Gateway thanks to Julie's 5th grade teacher. We don't go very often, but Hailey and Josh really love it! Megan and Julie were good sports to spend the morning playing there.

Hailey's favorite place is the Neighborhood Market. She loves being the cashier.

Good thing we still have 3 more years before Megan really gets her driver's license.

We wish the rock wall was taller and more challenging!

Josh loves to "fly" the Lifeflight helicopter. It's always worth the wait to have a turn.

Since we were in the area, we made a quick trip to the "moon" at the Clarke Planetarium.
